Marcy Brenner is a baker’s daughter originally from Alexandria, VA. She’s been a musician since she was big enough to work the pedals on her family’s player piano and a writer as soon as she could hold a pencil. Flute and violin in youth orchestras gave way to a guitar on her tenth birthday. Her professional life has led her to California to work on the “other side of the desk” in marketing and artist relations for Dean Markley Strings to then create her own publishing company in 2000. She spent a few decades on Ocracoke Island, NC where she was a studio musician for Soundside Studio, toured with the national folk group Molasses Creek and created a music, teaching and writing venue there with her then partner Lou Castro. Their duo was called Coyote. When hurricane Dorian and Covid “cosmically evicted” her to Merritt Island, she connected with the large family of performing songwriters and now shares her songs, is a self-published author and
a touring cancer advocate speaker.
Her enchanting, authentic songs cross every boundary of genre and are uncommon, yet universal.
The soundtrack for the documentary film DEAD GIRL WALKING was written, recorded and published by Marcy Brenner & Lou Castro (MRB Publishing LLC ascap). Marcy is the subject of this film produced by filmmaker Ray Schmitt of Real Earth Productions.
Marcy is a featured musician in the Nicholas Sparks movie “Nights In Rodanthe" starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane. That track is included in the CD soundtrack released in company with Emmylou Harris,
Count Basie, Dinah Washington and The Dillards.
